Years ago Mexico nationalized gasoline production and sales. Pemex is the official gas company in Mexico and is the only authorized gas station in the entire country. Accordingly, many smaller towns and villages don’t have a gas station. However, the free market comes to the rescue – you can usually find someone selling gasoline from 55 gallon drums in most places. Tell the man how many liters you want and he will get it for you with a bucket and a funnel.
