Althaus-Davis Road, in Gillespie and Blanco Counties, is a typical hill country road – it winds up, down, and around, following the terrain, and is a heck of a lot of fun on a dual sport motorcycle.
It is a great drive but the description fails to mention that a portion of the road is unpaved so you will be washing your bike when you get home. If you don’t mind the dust turn onto 309 to 308 to 315. Beautiful route that drop you at State Hwy 16. You’ll see nice bluffs and cross Sandy Creek. No bridge and driving thru the sand can be tricky at times.
