While I like riding dirt, I ride enough pavement that I want a windscreen on my motorcycle to take the pressure off my torso at highway speeds. Of the various universal windscreens I have used over the years, I like the MRA Vario windscreen brand the most due to MRA’s unique method of allowing the rider to adjust the windscreen angle and the windscreen height separately. My experience has been that being able to adjust the windscreen angle is a critical element when it comes to maximizing effectiveness and minimizing helmet buffeting and wind noise. For a non-permanent windscreen, I think the MRA brand is a fine choice.
While I found the above MRA screen in the picture above to work fairly well on my Husqvarna 701 Enduro I wanted both a bit more protection and a more permanent solution. Luckily, Madstad Engineering has a screen specifically for the 2017 Husqvarna 701. I’ve used Madstad’s products before, on a Suzuki 650 Wee Strom and a Husqvarna TR650 Terra, and similar to the MRA windscreens the Madstad screen allows the rider to adjust the screen angle and height separately. So I decided to give it a try on the 701.
To my delight, the Madstad screen works great on the 701. It might stick up a little too high for serious off-pavement but for the type of everyday riding that I tend to do (and expect to do on the 701) I think it’s going to be just right.
