My first adventure bike
My first adventure bike was a 1998 KLR650, seen in the picture below. True to the motif popularized in the late 1990s, it came from the factory painted Army green decorated with purple lettering. Introduced in 1987, the KLR remains the best selling dual sport adventure bike since, outselling number 2 and 3 (the DR-Z400 and the DR650) combined. The KLR has been called a lot of names, from “the best dual sport bike in the world” to “the poor man’s GS”. Whatever you call it, its popularity is well deserved. Admittedly it is not great at any one thing but it is arguably one of the most versatile bike you can buy.
